How do I post my photos in forums and blogs?
Photos and videos in your SmugMug galleries can be embedded in web pages outside SmugMug. For example, you can show off your lunch in a forum post like this:
First, make sure your gallery settings have External Embedding enabled. This means you allow your photos to appear on external sites.
You can find the settings under the Photo Protection tab.
Once you have external embedding set, navigate to the photo you want to use elsewhere and click the Share button, then Get a Link.
Select the Embeddable Links tab:
For posting to forums, copy the code from the "Forums" section. (Most forums automatically support BBCode.)
For other sites that use HTML, grab the code the same way as described above. Just be sure to copy from the "Blogs" section instead.
Paste Your Code
Navigate to the blog or forum where you want to share your photo and paste your copied code right into the box of your forum post or blog entry.
Paste by holding down the CTRL key, then hitting the V key (Command-V on Mac).
If it doesn't seem to work after saving a forum post, try grabbing the HTML link instead and letting the forum generate the code for you.
If that still doesn't seem to work after saving your post, try grabbing just the photo link from the "Photo Links" tab. Look for an IMG or graphical button on the forum when you compose a post. Click that button to display a pop-up window where you can paste your photo's URL.
In some forums, such as dpreview, no pop-up box is provided and you simply paste your photo's URL into the body of your message along with your prose.
