Can I crop my photo thumbnails?

Updated: 07/18/2014

Tease and tantalize your fans so they can't resist clicking on your photos.

Do it by zooming in on the most interesting part of your photo. When they click on the thumbnail, they'll see the rest of the picture.

Note: Thumbnail cropping only works in the SmugMug gallery style.

The Easiest Way

In the gallery settings, you'll see Square Thumbnails option under the Appearance tab. Set that to On.

A Bit More Picky?

To choose exactly what part of your photo will be in the thumbnail, make sure you're logged in. Select Crop Thumbnail from the Image Tools menu. Here's what you'll see:

Click a corner of the crop box and drag to adjust the size of the box. Click near the center of the box and drag to move the crop area around.

Click Save Crop. That's all there is to it.

We'll generate a new thumbnail for your gallery, but in the meantime you can click on the arrows in the tool to proceed to a different image to crop.
